As I had came to the finishing touches of this piece, I found myself reflecting on how many limits I had to place on this painting for all of its contrasting elements to come together.
Without those limits, it would have become confusing and overwhelming. But maybe that’s the point. Maybe that’s its story.
Limits.
Sometimes they feel restrictive. Sometimes they protect us. They can feel like a prison or a place of safety. Either way, they’ll always exist for one reason or another.
I don’t know if this painting has an answer. Maybe it’s simply an invitation to think about where our own limits come from—and what they’re really doing for us.
